ANDREA AQUILANTI

Andrea Aquilanti is an artist whose practice unfolds in continuity across drawing, painting, and immersive site-specific installation. His work emerges from an ongoing dialogue with public and private spaces, with a particular focus on the city of Rome and its visual and conceptual heritage of classical art and architecture, reactivated through contemporary languages and technological mediation.

Through layered imagery and complex perceptual constructions, Aquilanti creates environments that question the stability of reality and the mechanisms of representation. His installations are conceived as temporary, experiential situations in which space, image, and viewer enter into relationships of tension, transformation, and duration.

He has participated in major national and international exhibitions, including the 56th Venice Biennale (Italian Pavilion, Codice Italia, 2015) and the Rome Quadriennale (2003, 2008). His work has been presented in institutional contexts and exhibition spaces across Europe and Asia, including Shanghai, Beijing, Berlin, and Rome.

In 2019, he realized his first permanent public artwork in Viterbo, commissioned by the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca as part of the Arte sui Cammini project promoted by the Lazio Region. Among his awards is the Premio Terna 02 (2009), received for Acqua, an installation combining video projection and sound.

Andrea lives and works in Rome.
